Found a photograph by Pedro Cerqueira on a search engine, a website or in a file's metadata, and want to use it? This page says who owns it and how you can use it legally.

Ownership

All photographs published on pedrocerqueira.pt, in client galleries and on social media are by Pedro Cerqueira and are protected by copyright under Portuguese law (Código do Direito de Autor e dos Direitos Conexos) and international treaties.

Being online does not make a photograph free to use.

How to license

Before publishing, ask for a licence:

  • send the photograph, or the link where you found it;
  • say how you want to use it (the next section lists what matters);
  • include your name, your company or organisation if any, and a contact.

You will receive a quote and, once accepted, a written licence with the terms of use.

What sets the price

The price depends on the use. For a quote, tell us:

  • the medium: website, social media, press, print, advertising;
  • the duration: one campaign, one year, unlimited;
  • the territory: Portugal, Europe, worldwide;
  • the print run or reach: printed copies, advertising spend;
  • whether you need exclusivity.

Common uses

All quoted on request:

  • Editorial: newspapers, magazines, books and news websites.
  • Commercial and advertising: campaigns, ads, catalogues and packaging.
  • Social media: posts and ads for a brand or organisation.
  • Internal use: presentations, reports and training, not shown to the public.

Not allowed without a licence

Without a written licence, you may not:

  • reproduce or publish the photographs, in whole or in part;
  • edit or crop them, including to remove the signature or credit;
  • resell or sublicense them, or add them to stock libraries;
  • use them to train, fine-tune or feed artificial intelligence systems: the author expressly reserves this right under Article 4 of Directive (EU) 2019/790;
  • remove or change the metadata (author, rights and contact).

Commissioned work

If you commissioned a job, the terms of use for those photographs are the ones in that job's quote or contract, and this page does not change them.

If you want to use them differently, get in touch first.

How to credit

Whenever a photograph is published, the credit goes with it, next to the image or in the publication's credits, exactly like this:

Photo: Pedro Cerqueira

Unauthorised use

When a photograph is used without a licence, we ask for it to be regularised: a retroactive licence at the corresponding fee, or removal. Most cases are settled with an email.
